Was I the only one who watched the Hoarders rats episode and thought, “Oh, maybe I should get a rat again?” I mean, I don’t want 3,000 rats, but I like them, and a shout-out to those I’ve had as pets in the past: Blaze (that’s him right there, with me! Look how much I love him! And this picture was taken back in 1989, in case you thought I was maybe just jumping on the 2011 Hoarders-inspired rat bandwagon!), Cookie, Brambles (good rat name, right?), Tipsy (had some head problem; Mom felt sorry for her in pet store), and–because Tipsy came to us pregnant–13 baby rats.
We didn’t have them all at once. The most rats we ever had at once was 15–Brambles, Tipsy, and the babies. Who, by the way, we found homes for. Rats make good pets. They are smart and cute and they like people. They are awake during the day, which is a plus for kids who want to play with them.
Now I know you want one too. Here they are:
I probably won’t go all the way to California to get my rat, but since our slumlord said we can’t get a dog, I will consider it.
Look for my review, “The Hoarders Rats Episode: From the Point of View of Someone Who Loves Rats,” later in the week!
